#10: Making-it-rain: Bringing Molecular Dynamics Simulations to Every Scientist Through the Cloud

Date and Time

  • Date: Friday, November 20, 2026

  • Time: 10:00–11:00 AM (BRT) / 13:00–14:00 (UTC) / 8:00–9:00 AM (EST) / 21:00–22:00 (GMT+8)

  • Location: Online @ Zoom Webinar

Event Details

Join AI4Life for a technical webinar on Making-it-rain, an open-source tool that brings molecular dynamics simulations to every scientist through the cloud. The session will cover the idea behind Making-it-rain, how the tool was developed, and how it has helped researchers around the world run molecular dynamics simulations with only a browser and free cloud resources.

This webinar will be hosted by Hien Minh To, AI4LIFE Team. The session format includes topic framing, a technical presentation by Pablo R. Arantes, a Vecura demonstration of molecular dynamics workflows, followed by an interactive live Q&A session.

Speaker Information

Featured speaker: Dr. Pablo R. Arantes, Molecular Design Scientist, Vita Nova Institute (EMS Group), Campinas, Brazil.

Dr. Pablo R. Arantes is a Molecular Design Scientist at Vita Nova Institute (EMS Group) in Campinas, Brazil. He holds a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Riverside, in the Palermo Lab.

His work combines molecular dynamics simulations, enhanced sampling methods, and AI-assisted protein-ligand complexes, and to support the discovery of therapeutic peptides and biologics. He has authored 37 publications, including papers in Cell, PNAS, Nature Catalysis, and Nucleic Acids Research, and holds an international patent. He is the creator of Making-it-rain and other open source tools that aim to make computational methods accessible to researchers around the world.

What you will learn

  • The idea behind Making-it-rain and the problem it set out to solve

  • How the tool was developed as open-source software running on free cloud resources

  • How scientists around the world use it to run molecular dynamics simulations with only a browser

  • A demonstration of running molecular dynamics workflows in no-code on Vecura
